DESCRIPTION:The lantern is a symbol of lighting and brightening the path for the Māori new year. Traditionally\, the star Puanga (Rigel) and the star cluster of Matariki (Pleiades) appears as a sign of the new lunar cycle in Aotearoa.\n\nFriends of the Farm invite you\, your friends and family to join in a foreshore lantern walk to celebrate Matariki at Ambury Farm. Meet at 5.30 at the farm barn to make lanterns or bring your own lantern. All you’ll need is an empty tin can per person full with frozen water (we will have spares). We’ll have a rewarding sausage sizzle before the walk and hot chocolates after\, yum! Join us for free family fun on the farm – come prepared for the winter weather.

DESCRIPTION:The Mangere Bridge FUN Run\, Walk\, Stroll and Stride is a FUN time for the whole family. \nWith distances of 5k\, 10k\, and 21k’s there is a distance for everyone. \nWith a whole bunch of activities at Home Base (Bill and Naomi Kirk Park) … The Run\, Walk\, Stroll and Stride will incorporate the Village\, the beautiful Kiwi Esplanade and Ambury Farm. \nThis event is one that anyone can do … people of all ages and abilities can take part – though please note\, children under the age of 14 are not permitted to take part in the 21k’s (1/2 Marathon) \nRegistration and Race Number pick up in the Naomi and Bill Kirk Park will open at 7.15am \nAll Runners\, Walkers\, Strollers and Striders need to check in on the day to get their number to be eligible for the spot prizes at the end. \n\n21k participants briefing will be at 7.45am Start time is 8.00am\n10k participants briefing will be at 8.45am. Start time is 9.00am\n5k participants briefing will be at 9.15am Start time is 9.30am.\n\nThis is a fun event for everyone. There will be no “winners” prizes as we are all winners for taking part. But we will have lots of spot prizes.
