Māngere Bridge Seedling & Seed Swap Day – Sat Sept 26, 10am – 12pm

Friends of the Farm and local Meegan Jade have come together again and are excited to share with you our third Spring Seed & Seedling Swap!
Did you save seed from last year’s maara and end up with more than you’ll ever plant? Chances are you’re not alone.
Do you ever sow seeds and have left over seedlings once you’ve planted out your garden? You’re probably not alone there as well.
If you’re new to the gardening world or just excited to get into another season of growing, this event is for you!
- Seeds
- Seedlings
- Old pots
- Plant your own seedling
- Learn to make your own biodegradable seedling pots
- Learn to make your own biodegradable bags for food waste bins
Bring it on down and see what you can swap them for, what you have too much of, someone may have none…
What you have none of, someone may have plenty!
GIANT PUMPKIN GROWING COMPETITION
Not only are we swapping seedlings, but we are also running the pumpkin growing competition again.
Last year was our first event, we had a great turnout of pumpkins and at the same time we hosted a harvest swap.
People were able to bring along their extra veges they had grown or share preserves they had made. People that had collected seedlings from the swap, came back to share the fruits of their labour, he rawe!
We learnt a lot last year when running the 1st pumpkin growing competition, we learnt that people are very competitive, so this year we will make some rules, so everyone is clear, watch this space.
To enter the Giant Pumpkin Growing Competition, you will need to register with Friends of the Farm – email friends@fof.nz.
Then your seedling will be ready to collect at the seedling swap.
You will get about 4½ months to grow your pumpkin until competition day, we will confirm the date a little closer to the time
