Two Years of Crafty Work – and Counting

Two Years of Crafty Work – and Counting

The Māngere Bridge Library Craft Group has been meeting for two years now and continues to grow and develop.

People come along and knit, crochet,  embroider, do felt work, macrame and chat.

An interesting and diverse number of crafty projects are on the go at any one time.  Local Trish has just completed a “Scarface Claw” knitted cat for a grandchild. It’s been a testing project, following a complicated pattern 40 pages long. “I enjoy a challenge,” said Trish, “it’ll be a rest to go back to my Fair Isle knitting!”

Some of the Group have been making items for the Middlemore Foundation.  30 items including baby beanies, socks, knitted balls,  slippers and adult hats were dropped off at Middlemore Hospital recently.  As well, we delivered 45 prem baby beanies, knitted by Children’s Librarian Sarah’s elderly aunt.

The group meets every Thursday at 2pm and on every third Saturday at 2pm in the Māngere Bridge Library.  All are welcome to join in – you will likely see some of our regular Foffers (Friends of the Farm members ☺).  People can knit or crochet their own projects or produce items for local charities.

Donations of wool or cotton yarn are most welcome and can be dropped off anytime at the Māngere Bridge Library.
