Recently the Māngere Bridge Library Craft Group dropped off bags of knitted and crocheted items to the Middlemore Foundation  for distribution to patients and community.  We loaded it all into some beautiful fabric bags that were created at a Friends of the Farm Sewing Bee.

Altogether the Craft Group had created 22 beanies, 7 fish and chip jerseys, 6 wool cardies, 6 Octopus toys, 1 cot blanket and 1 premmie hat, 4 pairs knitted wool slippers, plus 9 fabric grab bags.  56 items in total. Thanks to a donation from Friends of the Farm many of the items were made of wool, rather than acrylic.

At the same time, we helped out by delivering 80 baby beanies and 7 cot blankets created by Children Librarian Sarah’ elderly aunt.  Thanks, Aunty Gay.  Your knitting will keep those littlies warm and cozy!

The group meets weekly every Thursday from 2-4pm and monthly every third Saturday from 2-3.45 pm, in the Māngere Bridge Library.  All are welcome to join in – you will likely see some of our regular Foffers (Friends of the Farm members ☺).  People can knit or crochet their own projects or produce items for local charities.

Donations of wool or cotton yarn are most welcome and can be dropped off anytime at the Māngere Bridge Library.
