The Crafty people at the Māngere Bridge Library Craft Group have been busy lately. First, they made 20 toddler beanies for a Hamilton East Kindergarten, to keep little heads warm when playing outside. Then it was a dozen beanies for ‘Brainy Beanies ‘, to be sold at the Mystery Creek Field Days, raising money for the NZ Brain Tumour Support NZ. Following that, another 47 items were dropped off to the Middlemore Foundation, for distribution to new borns, needy patients and community. Beanies, blankets, jumpers, toys, slippers, all knitted or crocheted with care and love.

The group continues to grow each week, with new people joining. There’s always lots of skill sharing, and chat , with the more experienced patiently guiding the novices. Apparently, any form of handicrafts is supposed to be stress relieving! It’s certainly a relaxed, friendly group of people!
Thanks to all those who knit, crochet, or sew and thanks to the generous yarn donors, plus of course Māngere Bridge Library, for hosting the group and providing a cuppa. The group meets every Thursday from 2-4pm, and every third Saturday from 2-4pm. A connected, caring community, working together to help others.
