Friends of the Farm Māngere Bridge have a busy calendar of waste-wise events to start the year.
Saturday 7 February (and every first Saturday of the month)- ORCHARD WORKING BEE– 2.00-4.00 pm. Come along and help in the orchard – mulching and weeding!
Saturday 21 February GIANT PUMPKIN Judging – 10.00 am-12 noon Ambury Farm. Pumpkins will be weighed on the farm scales to find the heaviest. You can guess the weight too. Other categories like cutest, ugliest etc will be decided by public vote.
Saturday 14 March SEWING BEE 2.00-4.00 pm Ambury Farm Barn. Join us to make fabric bags for the Middlemore Foundation. Bring your sewing machine. No machine? You can use our spare.
Saturday 21 March REPAIR CAFÉ 10.00 am- 1.00 pm Māngere Bridge Library. Skilled volunteers will be on hand to repair broken household items, mend small electrical appliances such as desk lamps, fix wobbly bikes, mend and repair clothes, and assist with IT queries. Save money and the environment. Get things fixed!
Saturday 28 March E-WASTE COLLECTION 9.00 am – 3.00 pm. Ambury Riding Centre, 66 Wellesley Road, Māngere Bridge. Volunteers will help unload and sort your e-waste ( TVs, computers, phones, printers, fridges, washing machines, etc) for recycling and repurposing.
All of these events are free. A koha to help cover costs is appreciated.
